ABSTRACT


Purpose: The Aim Of This Study Was To Compare The Effect Of MonoBond Plus Primer Application Protocol, Or Ultrasonic Cleaning In Ethanol On The Shear Bond Strength Of Rely X Resin Cement To Salivary Contaminated Prettau Zirconia Discs.

Materials and Methods: Forty Yttrium?partially Stabilized With Tetragonal Polycrystalline Prettau Zirconia Discs Of 7 Mm Diameter And 2 Mm Thickness, Were Constructed By Using Zirconzahn CAD/CAM Technology. Group 1 (Gp Cr) : Ten Prettau Zirconia Discs Were Cemented To The Composite Disc Without Contamination (act As Control Group). Group 2 (Gp Cn) : Ten Prettau Zirconia Discs Were Contaminated With Artificial Saliva For 60 Sec. Group 3 (Gp E) : Ten Prettau Zirconia Discs Were Cleaned Ultrasonically With 96% Ethanol For 2 Min Before Contamination Then Contaminated By Artificial Saliva For 60 Seconds. Group 4 (Gp P) : Ten Prettau Zirconia Discs Were Primed By MonoBond Plus In Excess For 60 Seconds Before Salivary Contamination Then Contaminated By Artificial Saliva For 60 Seconds. The Forty Prettau Zirconia Discs Were Cemented To Forty Composite Discs By Self Adhesive RelyX? Unicem Aplicap? According To Manufacturer?s Instruction. The Shear Bond Strength Test Was Performed By A Universal Testing Machine (cross- Head Speed : 0.5 Mm/min). The Differences Among The Four Groups Were Analyzed With Univariate ANOVA And Bonferroni Post Hoc Test. P Value Of � 0.05 Was Considered Statistically Significant.

Results: The Results Showed That Contaminated Prettau Zirconia Treated By MonoBond Plus Recorded The Highest Mean Shear Bond Strength Value, Followed By Uncontaminated Untreated Prettau Zirconia, Contaminated Untreated Prettau Zirconia, Contaminated Prettau Zirconia Treated By Ultrasonic In Ethanol. The Shear Bond Strength Values Recorded For Contaminated Prettau Zirconia Treated By MonoBond Plus Were Significantly Higher Than Contaminated Untreated Prettau Zirconia
