ABSTRACT
Our Study Aims To Compare Between Remineralization And Sealing Strategies Of White Spot Lesion By Using Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Varnish Containing Fluoride Or Remineralization Using Fluoride Varnish Micro-hardness Of Initial Enamel Carious Lesion. A Total Number Of 10 Sound Human Molars Were Used In This Study, The Teeth Were Sectioned To Remove The Root And To Obtain Buccal And Lingual Halves Then Embedded In Acrylic Resin In A Teflon Mold With The Enamel Surface Uncovered After That The Specimens Were Soaked In A Demineralizing Solution For 72 Hours To Induce Caries Like Lesion Then The Specimens Were Randomly Divided Into 2 Main Equal Groups According To Type Of Used Material With 10 Specimens In Each Group Then Each Subgroup Was Assessed According PH Cycling Application And Without PH Cycling, Micro-hardness Testing Was Done Four Times For Each Specimen Firstly For Sound Enamel Before Demineralization As Baseline, Secondly After Demineralization In Order To Prepare White Spot Lesion, Then Thirdly Immediately After Treatment Before Application Of PH Cycling And Finally After Application Of PH Cycling.

Results: Microhardness Testing Showed That The Sound Enamel Recorded The Highest Microhardness Value While After Demineralization The Microhardness Value Decreased, Then After Treatment In Absence Of PH Cycling The Highest Microhardness Value Was Recorded By Clinpro XT Varnish Followed By Fluoride Varnish With Significant Difference Between Them. Also After PH Cycling Of The Treated Specimens The Highest Mean Microhardness Value Was Recorded By Clinpro XT Varnish Followed By Fluoride Varnish Group, With Significant Difference Between Groups. Percent % Of Microhardness Recovery Showing Without PH Cycling The Highest Percentage Of Recovery Was Recorded By Clinpro XT Varnish And The Least Recovery Was Recorded By Fluoride Varnish With Significant Difference Between Groups And After PH Cycling, Clinpro XT Varnish Achieved Highest Recovery Value, Followed By Fluoride Varnish, With Significant Difference Between Groups. Conclusion: Remineralization Using Fluoride Varnish Couldn?t Restore The Microhardness Of Sound Enamel While The Combination Between Resin Seal And Fluoride Remineralization In The Clinpro XT Gave The Chance To Take The Advantage Of Both Techniques And Was Able To Surpass The Effect Of Each Technique Alone, Specially Under PH Challenge.
