ABSTRACT
Objective: The Objective Of The Study Was To Radiographically Evaluate The Effect Of ?retention Sil? And ?silicon Based Soft Liner? As Retentive Means For Mandibular Mini- Implant Retained Over Denture On Supporting Structure. Methods: Twelve Completely Edentulous Male Patients Were Selected From The Outpatient Clinic, Prosthodontic Department, Faculty Of Dentistry, Ain Shams University To Participate In This Study. For All Patients, A Complete Denture Was Constructed In A Conventional Manner. Four Mini Implants Were Inserted In Interforaminal Region. Patients Were Divided Randomly Into Two Group According To The Type Of Soft Liner Used, In First Group ,the Lower Denture Was Relined With A ?retention Sil ? While In Second Group The Lower Denture Was Relined With A Silicone Based Soft Liner. The Amount Of Bone Loss Around The Mini-implants Was Assessed Using Digital Panoramic Radiograph At Denture Insertion, 6 Month And 12 Months After Denture Insertion For Each Group. Data Was Collected And Statistically Analyzed. Result: There Was A Decrease In Bone Level Throughout The Study Period, However By Using Paired T- Test, This Decrease Was Statistically Insignificant (P Value >0.05) Between Insertion And 6 Month, Between 6 Months And 12 Month, And Between Insertion To 12 Month Within The Same Group. By Comparison Between The Effect Of ?Retention Sil? And ?silicon Based Soft Liner? On The Amount Of Bone Resorption, There WAS Insignificant Difference In Bone Height Between The Two Groups As P- Value > 0.05.
