ABSTRACT
Background: Immediate Implant Placement Is Complex And Technique Sensitive Especially In The Esthetic Zone; Where Soft Tissue Enhancement Techniques Are Often Indicated To Improve The Overall Soft Tissue Configuration At The Implant Site.
Aim: Evaluation Of The Ability Of Mucograft? To Enhance The Soft Tissue Profile And Thickness Around Dental Implants As Compared To Autogenous Connective Tissue Graft.
Methods: Eighteen Implants Were Placed In 16 Patients Having Missing Teeth In The Esthetic Zone. All Implants Were Placed According To A Delayed-immediate Protocol. Patients Were Divided Into Two Groups; Eight Sites Received An Autogenous Connective Tissue Graft Around The Dental Implant Acting As Control Group (CTG Group), While The Other Eight Sites Received A Mucograft? Around The Dental Implant (MG Group). Peri-implant Mucosal Thickness And Keratnized Tissue Width Were Measured At Base Line ,1month ,3months ,6months And 9months. Pink Esthetic Score (PES) Was Evaluated At The End Of The Study. Observers Applied The PES Index According To Belser Et Al 2008.
Results: The Peri-implant Mucosal Thickness Measured At The 2mm Level In The Mucograft Group Showed A Significant Increase With P Value = 0.036. In The SCTG Group, The Peri-implant Mucosal Thickness Also Showed A Significant Increase At Mesial, Mid-buccal And Distal Sites With P Value = 0.009, < 0.001 And 0.002 Respectively. The Peri-implant Mucosal Thickness At The 4mm Level Showed Significant Increase At Mesial, Mid-buccal And Distal With P Value 0.042, 0.007 And 0.001 Respectively Only In The SCTG Group. The Peri-implant Mucosal Thickness After 6 Months Of Follow-up Showed A Significant Increase In Comparison To Baseline Readings With P Value =0.009 In Both Groups With No Significant Difference Between Groups.
Conclusion: Delayed Implant Placement Facilitates Soft Tissue Augmentation. Both Mucograft? And SCTG Around Dental Implants Provide Favorable Esthetics Outcomes. The Use Of Mucograft? Provided Stable, Reliable And Comparable Results To SCTG.
