ABSTRACT
This Study Was Carried Out To Evaluate The Changes In The Activity Of Muscles Of Mastication When Constructing A Repositioning Splint Either In Centric Relation Or Neuromuscular Position When Treating Patients Having Myofascial Pain Dysfunction Syndrome. The Sample Of This Study Consisted Of 15 Patients Were Selected From The Outpatient Clinic, Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Faculty Of Oral And Dental Medicine, Cairo University. All Patients Complaining Of A Clicking In The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) With Mean Age 30 Years. Patients Were Divided Into Three Equal Groups Each Of Five Female.Group 1: Five Patients Will Receive Stabilizing Splint Using Centric Record. Group 2: Five Patients Will Receive Anterior Repositioning Splint Using Protrusive Record. Group 3: Five Patients Will Receive Repositioning Splint Using Neuromuscular Record And Tens Device. Muscle Activity Using EMG And Vas Questioner Was Recorded After One Month And 3 Month Of Follow Up. From The Result Of These Study Within The Confines Of This Clinical Study, Splint Treatment Using The Stabilization Type Group (I), Anterior Repositioning Splint Group (II) And Repositioning Splint Group (III) Did Not Differ Over 3 Months And Showing A Gradual Decrease Of Muscle Activity In Both Masseterand Temporalis Throughout The Whole Follow-up Period In Three Groups, With No Statistically Significant Differences At All Follow-up Periods. VAS Figures Were Not Significantly Different Between Groups, Which Is Important As Part Of The Statistical Protocol.
