ABSTRACT
Severe Periodontitis Is The Sixth Most Prevalent Condition Affection 11% Of The Global Population Contributing Significantly To The Global Burden Of Chronic Diseases And Constituting A Major Public Health Problem. The Aim Of The Current Study Was To Investigate The Correlation And Variation In Between The Clinical Attachment Loss And The Radiographic Bone Loss In Posterior Teeth With Periodontitis. A Retrospective, Correlation Study Was Conducted By Selecting A Total Sample Of 43 Posterior Teeth Measuring 86 Periodontitis Sites. Ages Of The Patients Selected For The Study Ranged From 20 To 61 Years. Clinical Attachment Level And Bitewing Radiographs Of The Selected Sites Were Obtained From Patient?s Records And The Obtained Data Was Analyzed Using SPSS. The Results Showed That The Median For CAL And Cemento-enamel Junction Alveolar Crest Mesially Was 3 And 5; And Distally Was 4 And 5 Respectively, And The Difference Was Statistically Significant. Moreover, There Was A Statistically Positive Correlation In Between CAL And CEJ-AC Mesially And Distally.
The Study Concluded That There Is A True Correlation Between The Amount Of Attachment Loss And Bone Loss. It Should Be Considered That The Amount Of Bone Loss Is More Than The Amount Of Attachment Loss By The Biological Width Distance.
