ABSTRACT
The Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Effect Of Gamma Radiation On Biocompatibility And Surface Texture Of MTA, Ketac-Fil And Ketac-Silver. Methods: Effect Of Gamma Irradiation On Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), And Glass Ionomer Cements (Ketac-Fil And Ketac-Silver) Were Evaluated In Comparison To Non-irradiated Group Of The Same Materials. Ten Samples Of Each Subgroup Were Placed In Culture Medium For 7 Days. Non Treated Cells Were Used As A Negative Control. The Cell Cultures Were Incubated For 1,3 And 7days. Cytotoxicity Was Evaluated By Methyl Tetrazolium Assay (MTT) , And The Surface Changes Of The Set Materials Was Assessed By Using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The Data Of Cell Cytotoxicity Were Analyzed Statistically By Using A One-way ANOVA Analysis Of Variance Test At A Significance Level Of P < .05.

Results: After 7 Days? Materials Exposed To Gamma Irradiation Were More Cytotoxic Than Non-irradiated Materials. However, After 1 Day Irradiated Ketac-Fil Followed By Ketac-Silver Were Less Cytotoxic Than Non-irradiated Keta-Fil And Ketac-Silver. MTA Showed The Highest Viabilities Followed By Ketac-Silver Then Ketac-Fil.
