ABSTRACT


Aim: Clarify The Prevalence Of Early Childhood Caries In Egyptian Children With Serum Vitamin D Deficiency, Determine If Vitamin D Deficiency Is A Risk Marker For (ECC). Patients And Methods: The Study Was Conducted On 294 Egyptian Children Ages From 2-5 Years Of Age With Serum Vitamin D Deficiency Attending Abo El Rish Hospital, Malnutrition Clinic, Cairo University. Structured Questionnaire Was Done Followed By An Oral Examination And Laboratory Investigation For Confirmation And Standardization Of Results.

Results: The Percentage With Vitamin D Deficiency Was More In Girls Than In Boys. The Prevalence Of Early Childhood Caries In Egyptian Children With Serum Vitamin D Deficiency Was High .The More Prevalent Early Childhood Caries Stage Was The Deep Stage. No Significant Statistically Difference Between Insufficient And Deficient Vitamin D Serum Level And Bleeding On Brushing.

Conclusions: Vitamin D Deficiency Is A Risk Marker For Early Childhood Caries. The Finding Highlighted The Value Of Providing Consistent Message About The Importance Of Vitamin D To The Public.
