ABSTRACT
Conventional Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy Has Been Proven To Be An Effective Treatment For Patients With Chronic Periodontitis. Local Administration Of Antimicrobials Provides A High Concentration Of The Drug In The Pocket And Enhances The Clinical Results Without Any Systemic Side Effects And Bacterial Resistance. Fourteen Patients Were Divided Into Two Groups. Seven Patients In Each Group And Two Sites Were Selected In Each Patient One Of Them Considered As Control Site (SRP). Group?: Received: (chitosan Gel + SRP) And Group??: (triclosan Loaded Chitosan Gel + SRP). Clinical Parameters And PGE2 Measurement Using ELISA Test Were Recorded At Baseline, 1, 3 And 6 Months. The Intergroup Comparison Showed More Favorable Results In Favor To Group ??. Hence, Adjunctive Application Of Triclosan Loaded Chitosan Gel Produces Improvements In The Clinical And Immunological Parameters Over The Traditional Treatment Alone.
