POST-OPERATIVE PAIN REDUCTION AFTER APPLICATION OF THREE INTRACANAL MEDICAMENT WITHIN NECROTIC ROOT CANALS AND PULP

ABSTRACT


Aim: The Present Study Was Performed To Evaluate The Post-operative Pain Reduction After Application Of Three Intracanal Medicament Within Necrotic Root Canals. Material And Method: Thirty Three Medically Free Patients With Necrotic Single Rooted Teeth Were Randomly Assigned Into Three Groups According To Intracanal Medicament Used; Conventional Calcium Hydroxide Paste, Calcium Hydroxide Nanoparticle And Combined Calcium Hydroxide With Silver Nanoparticle. After Opening Access Cavity And Completing Mechanical Preparation, Proper Irrigation And Dryness Of The Canals, Application Of Intracanal Medication Was Done. Patients Were Instructed To Record Their Postoperative Pain Level In Pain Chart (Numerical Rating Scale (NRS)) After 6, 24 And 48 Hours.

Results: There Was No Statistically Significant Difference Between The Three Groups At 6 And 24 Hours But There Was A Statistically Significant Difference Between Them After 48hours. Conclusion: The Combination Of Calcium Hydroxide With Silver Nanoparticle As Intracanal Medication Could Be Used As An Alternative For Reduction Of Postoperative Pain.
