ABSTRACT
Aim: Is To Compare The Stress Distribution Pattern In Two Different Attachment Systems Namely: Barclip. And Ballsocket. In Implant Supported Overdenture At Different Zones In Bone Surrounding Dental Implant With Application Of Force With Different Magnitudes And Directions Using 3D Finite Element Analysis.
Material & Methods: 3d Model Of Two Edentulous Maxilla Restored With Implant Supported Overdenture Using Different Attachment Designs. Amount Of 50, 100 And 150 N Load In Deferent Directions (vertical And Oblique) Were Applied Through The Overdenture Simultaneously On Posterior Dentition By Aid Of Finite Element Analyses Software. Loads Were Directed Toward The Central Fossa. Stress Analysis Was Carried Out To Detect The Generated Stresses On Bone Surrounding Dental Implants.
Results: When Comparing Between Both Attachments, The Maximum Von Mises Stresses In Vertical Loads Of 50, 100, And 150 N And Both 50 N Oblique Loads. Ball Attachment Shows Lower Stress Levels At The Cancellous As Well As Cortical Bone Surrounding Dental Implants.
Conclusion: The Maximum Von Mises Stresses In Both Models Among This Study Were Below The Critical Threshold Of Bone Resorption. The Region Which Displayed The Maximum Stress Concentration In The Both Models Was The Cortical Bone Surrounding The Loaded Implants. Barclip Attachment Recorded Higher Levels Of Von Mises Stresses Than Ballsocket In All Vertical And Oblique Loads.
