ABSTRACT
Purpose: To Characterize Of Nano Zirconia-alumina Composites As Dental Implant Materials Regarding To Microstructural Analysis And Mechanical Properties.
Materials and Methods: It Included Characterization And Testing Of Different Nano Zirconia-alumina Composites In Form Of Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA) Gp And Alumina Toughened Zirconia (ATZ) Gp Of The Ceramic Composites. In The Current Work, 70 Specimens For The Testing Procedure Would Be Evaluated Regarding The Mechanical Tests. Vickers Indenter Would Indent Specimens With A Loading Weight Of 2 Kg For 5 Sec To Produce Indentation. The Fracture Toughness Could Be Measured Through Niihara Formula.
Results: The Present Study Showed That Vickers Hardness Increased By Increasing The Alumina Content. So, Those Of ZTA Gp Were Higher Than Those Of ATZ Gp. While Fracture Toughness Increased With Increasing Amount Of ZrO2, So, These Properties Of ATZ Group Were Higher Than Those Of ZTA Group.
Conclusions: Zirconia- Alumina (ZrO2-Al2O3) Composites With Enhanced Properties Were Successfully Prepared. Different Compositions Were Tested And The Maximization Of Properties Was Studied. Three Compositions Of ATZ Composites, (80 ZrO2 20 Al2O3), (85 ZrO2 15 Al2O3) And (90 ZrO2 10 Al2O3) Were Tested Alongside With Other Three Compositions Of ZTA Composites, (80 Al2O3 20 ZrO2), (85 Al2O3 15 ZrO2) And (90 Al2O3 10 ZrO2).
