ABSTRACT

Aim: The Present Study Was Carried Out To Evaluate The Effect Of H1 Receptor Antagonist H1RA On Alveolar Bone Healing Following Tooth ExtractionMethods: Eight Adult Male Albino Rats With An Average Weight Of 150 To 200 G Had Their Lower Right Firstmolar Extracted And Were Randomly Distributed Into Two Groups, Four Rats As A Control Group Administrated 1 Ml Of Distilled Water And Four Rats As A Promethazine Group Administrated Promethazine Hydrochloride (4.8 Mg/kg).The Rats Were Sacrificedafter 7 Days. Alveolar Bone Healing Following Tooth Extraction Was Assessed By Histological And Histomorphometric Analysis.

Results: Alveolar Bone Healing After 7 Days Following Tooth Extraction Showed Retarded Healing And Lesser Bone Formation In H1 Receptor Antagonist Group As Compared To The Control GroupConclusion: H1 Receptor Antagonist Seemed To Negatively Affect The Early Stages Of Alveolar Bone Healing Following Tooth Extraction.
