ABSTRACT
Objective: The Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Accuracy Of The CAD-CAM Custom Made Titanium Miniplates In Positioning Of The Bony Chin Segment In Osseous Genioplasty.Case-series: A Group Of 8 Patients (5 Females And 3 Males), Suffering From Chin Deformities, Were Evaluated For The Chin Deformity Using The Cephalometric Analysis. The Patient Cone Beam Computed Tomography Was Used To Fabricate The Custom Made Miniplate For The Genioplasty With A Cutting Guide For The Osteotomy And The Predetermined Plate Screw Holes. The Procedure Was Done Under General Anesthesia. The Postoperative Cone Beam Computed Tomography Was Taken 1 Month After The Surgery. Reference Point And Planes Were Taken And Measured On The Post- Simulation And The Post-operative CT.
Results: All The Patients Healed Uneventfully With No Wound Dehiscence. The Postoperative Edema Was Shown With Different Degrees And Subsided Within 1-2 Weeks. During The Firstweek Of Follow Up, All Patients Had Numbness In The Lower Lip That Decreased In The Second And Third Week.?t? Test Was Used To Compare Between The Post Simulated And The Actual Post-operative Linear And Angular Measures. The Mean And Standard Deviation Difference Between The Post-simulation And The Actual Post-operative Was Statistically Non-significant (P<0.05).Conclusion: The Computer-guided Genioplasty Procedure Showed High Accuracy In Its Results. The Positioning Of The Genial Segment Was Facilitated, And The Operative Time Was Reduced. Patients Showed Less Postoperative Hypoesthesia Due To The Planned Cut Away From The Vital Structures. Overall Superimposition Of Both Models Showed Range Of Accuracy Percentage Between 72% And 92% With Mean Value Of 82.75% Which Is Considered Acceptable In The Range.Introduction
