ABSTRACT
The Aim Of The Present Study Was To Compare The Uses Of PRP And The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) In Treatment Of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Internal Derangement.Patients Meeting The Research Diagnostic Criteria For TMJ Internal Derangement Were Assigned To 1 Of 3 Study Groups That Received Either PRP, HA Or Arthrocentesis Alone. The Outcome Variables Were Maximum Non-assisted Mouth Opening (MVMO), Joint Sounds, And Pain Index Scores. Descriptive And Bivariate Statistics Were Computed.Thirty Patients With TMJ Internal Derangement Were Enrolled In The Study. In Group I, 10 Patients Received Three Injections Of 1 ML Of PRP After Single Needle Arthrocentesis. In Group II, 10 Patients Received Three Injections Of 1 ML Of Low Molecular Weight HA After Single Needle Arthrocentesis. In Group III 10 Patients Received Single Needle Arthrocentesis Alone.Between-group Comparisons Of The Outcome Variables Over Time Revealed Significantimprovements In Group I The PRP Group Exhibited Better Performance Compared With The HA Group In Terms Of The Pain And Joint Sounds. The Improvements Obtained With The PRP Injections In Group I Were Maintained During The Follow-up Period, And At The End Of This Period, The Median MVMO Was Better Than Group II.The Results Of This Study Suggest That Autologous Intra-articular Injections Of PRP Performed Better Than HA And Lavage Only In The Treatment And They Both Better Than The Simple Lavage Alone (Arthrocentesis). The Results Of This Study Were Supported By The Results Of Studies Conducted By K?t?k Et Al, Hegab Et. Al, M. Hanc? Et Al, Kilic Et Al.
