ABSTRACT
Visible Head And Neck Skin Scars Have A Negative Psychological Impact On Patients, Thus Many Trials Were Achieved To Minimize It. The Aim Of The Present Study Was To Compare Between The Effect Of Botulinum Toxin Type A (BTA) And Silicone Gel Patch On Scar Formation. Twelve Patients With Condylar And/or Angle Fracture Were Treated By Open Reduction And Internal Fixation Through Retro-mandibular Incisions. They Divided Randomly Into Two Groups. Group A Received Botulinum Toxin Type A (BTA) Injection While Group B Were Treated With Silicone Gel Patch. Nine Patients Completed The Trial. According To OPSAS, VSS And VAS, The Difference Between The Two Groups At One Month, And Six Months Was Statistically Insignificant, Meanwhile, There Was A Statistically Significant Difference In The Improvement Of The Scar Appearance That Treated By Either BTA Or Silicone Patch. According To This Study, We Concluded That BTA And Silicone Patch Has The Same Effect On Prevention Of Scar Formation.
