ABSTRACT
The Aim Of The Present Study Was To Evaluate The Antimicrobial Action Of Green Tea Extract When Used As Root Canal Irrigant. Forty Five Extracted Human Teeth Were Divided Into 3 Experimental Groups According To Type Of Irrigant Used (Green Tea, NaOCl And Saline). Teeth Were Decoronated, Instrumented, Sterilized And Then Teeth Were Incubated With Culture Suspension Of Enterococcus Faecalis. After Application Of Irrigant The Colonies Of E. Faecalis Of Each Group Were Counted To Evaluate Antimicrobial Efficacy. The Results Showed That The Samples Irrigated With NaOCl Showed Lowest Mean Value Of Bacterial Population Followed By Green Tea And Then Saline With A Statistically Significant Difference Between Groups.
