ABSTRACT
Background: Cyclophosphamide (CP) Is An Anticancer Agent Treats Many Cancer Types Effectively, But Has Many Side Effects. Unfortunately It Doesn?t Work Only On The Active Cells (cancer Cells) But Also Acts On The Healthy Cells. Royal Jelly (RJ) Is A Natural Substance Which Reported To Have Many Therapeutic Effects Besides Being An Anti-oxidant, Anti-inflammatory And Improve Immune System And Is Suggested To Have Protective Ability Against CP Unfortunate Side Effects. Objective: The Aim Of This Study Is To Evaluate The Protective Effect Of Royal Jelly Against The Destructive Effect Of Cyclophosphamide On Dental Pulp In Experimental Animal Model Via Biochemical, Histopathological And Immunohistochemical Examination.

Materials and Methods: Twenty Four Male, Adult, Albino Wister Rats, Were Randomly Separated In To 4 Groups Of 6 Rats; Control Group, RJ Group, CP Group And RJ / CP Group. Blood Samples Were Collected From Each Rat For Biochemical Examination. The Mandibles Of Rats Were Dissected And Fixed In 10 % Formaldehyde Solution And Transfer To The Laboratory To Be Processed For Histological And Immunohistochemical Examination. The Data Were Statistically Analyzed.

Results: CP Group Showed Marked Biochemical, Immunohistochemical, And Histopathological Changes When Compared With The (C, RJ, CP/RJ) Groups Indicating Destructive Effect Of CP Administration. Concomitant Administration Of RJ With CP Revealed A Noticeable Amelioration Of All Biochemical And Histological Changes Indicating The Protective Effect Of RJ. Conclusion: Royal Jelly Provided Protection From Toxicity Of CP In Dental Pulp Tissue. It Could Be Used As Additive Treatment With Chemotherapy.
