EFFICACY OF MIXING ETIDRONATE IN SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE ON ORGANIC TISSUE REMOVAL FROM SIMULATED INTERNAL RESORPTION CAVITIES USING DIFFERENT ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES

ABSTRACT


Aim: The Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Effectiveness Of NaOCl Followed By EDTA And A Mixture Of NaOCl And HEBP Activated With EDDY Sonic Tips And XP-Endo Finisher On Colored Gelatin Material Removal From Artificial Internal Resorption Cavities In Root Canals. Methods: A Total Of 60 Freshly Extracted Human Mandibular Premolars Were Used In This Study. Custom Made Molds Were Fabricated To Hold The Samples During The Study. Teeth Were Instrumented Using SC-Pro Files. Simulation Of Internal Root Resorption Was Done By Splitting The Tooth Into Two Halves Along Their Long Axis, Two Semicircular Cavities Were Prepared In The Halves Of Each Root Canal Using A 2-mm Round Diamond Bur. Resorptive Cavities Were Filled With A Colored Gelatin Material (CGM) Simulating Organic Tissue. The Two Halves Of Each Root Were Reassembled By Cyanoacrylate And Got Returned Into Custom Made Mold. Samples Were Randomly Assigned Into Two Main Equal Experimental Groups According To Activation Techniques (EDDY (A1) & XP-Endo Finisher (A2)). Each Group Was Further Subdivided Again According To The Irrigation Protocols Into Two Subgroups (NaOCl Then EDTA [B1] &NaOCl Mixed With HEBP [B2]). For Evaluation, An Image For Each Root Half At Level Of Resorptive Cavity Was Captured Using Digital Camera Mounted On A Light Stereomicroscope.Data Was Statistically Analyzed UsingOne-Way ANOVA Test Followed By Post Hoc Tukey?s.

Results: Results Showed That There Was A Statistically Significant Difference Between Tested Groups (P-value<0.05). Using XP-Endo Finisher With NaOClmixed With HEBP Showed The Lowest Mean Percentage Of Residual With A Maximum Of 30% And A Minimum Of 9.5%. Activation With EDDY And Irrigation Using NaOCl Then EDTA Showed The Highest Mean Percentage Of Residual Debris With A Maximum Of 80.3% And A Minimum Of 13.3%. None Of The Proposed Techniques Were Able To Remove The Debris Completely From Simulated Internal Root Resorption Cavity In All Samples.

Conclusions: Under The Condition Of Present Study, It Can Be Concluded That XP-Endo Finisher As Activation Technique And NaOCl Mixed With HEBP As Irrigation Protocol Has The Best Cleaning Effect In Simulated Internal Root Resorption Cavity.

Objectives: This Study Was Aiming To Evaluate Bone Gain And Primary Stability Of Implant In Closed Sinus Lifting Cases By Densah Bur In Comparsion To Osteotome With Simultaneous Implant Placement In Partially Edentulous PatientsMethodology: Twenty-nine Candidates (11 Males, 18 Females), Suffering From Non-restorable Posterior Maxillary Alveolar Ridge And Seeking Implant Rehabilitation. Patients Were Divided Randomly Into 2 Groups. The Control Group (osteotome Group) Was And The Test Group (Densah Bur Group) Was Densah Bur Graftless Closed Sinus Lift With Simultaneous Implant Placement. The Newly Formed Bone Was Measured By Used CBCT Measurements While Primary And Secondary Stability Were Measured By Osstell Device.

Aim: The Aim Of The Study Is To Evaluate Marginal Bone Loss Surrounding Implants After Immediate Implant Placement In Maxillary Premolar Region With Xenograft Bone Deproteinized Bovine Bone Mineral Particulates Versus Allograft Bone Particulates.Methodology: Twelve Patients Suffering From Severely Decayed Maxillary Premolar Teeth Have Been Extracted Atraumatically Followed By Immediate Implant Placement Using Xenograft Bone Deproteinized Bovine Bone Mineral Particulates Versus Allograft Bone Particulates.

Results: Allograft Group Has Mean Bone Loss 0.7?0.39 If Only Successful Cases Are Included And. Xenograft Group Has Mean Bone Loss 1.1?0.59 If Only Successful Cases Included.

Conclusions: Within Limitations Of Study, Jumping Gap Should Be Contained With A More Viable Graft To Ensure Maintainance Of Buccal Bone Level As Well As Decreasing Rate Of Marginal Bone Loss.

EVALUATION OF THE POSTOPERATIVE PAIN AND ANTIBACTERIAL EFFICACY AFTER USING THREE DIFFERENT INTRA CANAL MEDICAMENTS

ABSTRACT


Aim: To Evaluate The Postoperative Pain And Bacterial Reduction Following Root Canal Treatment In Teeth With Necrotic Pulp Using Calcium Hydroxide, Calcium Hydroxide Mixed With Chlorohexidine And Nanoparticles Calcium Hydroxide As Intracanal Medication.Material And Method: 80 Male Or Female Patients Of 25-50years Old With Asymptomatic Uniradicular Necrotic Teeth Were Selected And Randomly Assigned Into Four Groups According To The Intra-canal Medication Used: No Dressing Groups (control Group), Calcium Hydroxide Group (CH) With Saline, Calcium Hydroxide With Chlorhexidiene, Nano Particles Calcium Hydroxide. After Isolation, Access Cavity Was Performed Followed By Chemo-mechanical Preparation Using Fanta Rotary Filesand Conventional Irrigation Protcol Then Intra-canal Medication Was Placed By Lentulo Spiral In The Firsttreatment Session. While In The Second Session After 7 Days, The Intracanal Medication Were Removed And Canal Were Obturated. Postoperative Pain Was Assessed At 4, 24, 48 Hours And After 7 Days Postoperatively Using NRS. Bacteriological Samples Obtained From The Root Canals Before (S1) And After Instrumentation (S2) In The Firsttreatment Session. Subsequently, Bacterial Reduction Was Assessed In The Second Session After 7 Days (S3) Using Colony Forming Unit Test.

Results: All Intracanal Medicaments Resulted In A Statistically Significantdecrease In Mean Pain Value From 4 Hours To 7 Days Postoperatively. While, When Comparing All Groups, Nano Particles Calcium Hydroxide Showed The Least Post-operative Pain Compared To Others Groups With No Statistically Significantdifference. A Statistically Significantbacterial Count Reduction From S1 TO S2 And From S2 To S3. Nano Particles Calcium Hydroxide Achieved Significantbacterial Count Reduction Compared To Others Groups.Conclusion: All Intracanal Medicaments Was Efficientin Reducing Postoperative Pain In Asymptomatic Uniradicular Necrotic Teeth While The Use Of Nano Particles Calcium Hydroxide As Intracanal Medication Was More Effective Than That Of Calcium Hydroxide And Chlorhexidien Mixed With Calcium Hydroxide And In Bacterial Reduction.

Objectives: The Aim Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Effect Of Accelerated Aging On The Color Stability Of Two Ceramic Materials (one Type Of Hybrid Ceramic And One Type Of Lithium-disilicate Glass Ceramic) Cemented With Different Resin Materials (one Type Of Resin Cement And One Type Of Resin Modified Glass Ionmer Cement)Methods: A Total Of Twenty Molars Were Divided Into Two Groups (n=10) According To Type Of Ceramic Material Cemented On Its Prepared Occlusal Surface: Group 1 For Hybrid Ceramic And Group 2 For Lithium Dislicate Ceramic Each Group Was Randomly Divided Into Two Subgroups (n=5) According To Type Of Cement Used: Subgroup 1 For Resin Cement And Subgroup 2 For Resin Modifiedglass Ionomer Cement. Both Subgroups Were Subjected To Accelerated Aging Process Using Thermocycling System And Color Were Measured Using Spectrophotometer Before Cementation, After Cementation And After Aging. Color Differences (?E) Were Calculated. For Parametric Data; Three-way (ANOVA) Was Used To Analyze The Data, Followed By Mann-Whitney Test, Kruskal- Wallis Test. The Significance Level Was Set At ? 0.05.

Results: The L* A* B* Values Of The Tested Materials Were Affected By Both Ceramic Materials And Cement Types After Aging. Samples Of Hybrid Ceramic Cemented With Resin Modifiedglass Ionmer Cement Were With The Most DE Value Of The Tested Samples. Samples Of Lithium Dislicate Cemented With Resin Cement Were With The LeastDE Value Of The Tested Samples.Conclusion: Variation In Used Cement Type Had More Effect On Color Stability Than Variation In Used Ceramic Type. Lithium Dislicate Ceramic Samples Cemented With Resin Cement Was The Most Color Stable After Thermocycling.

EVALUATION OF THE ACCURACY OF CAD-CAM CUSTOM MADE TITANIUM MINIPLATES IN POSITIONING OF THE GENIAL SEGMENT IN COMPUTER GUIDED GENIOPLASTY

Objective: The Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Accuracy Of The CAD-CAM Custom Made Titanium Miniplates In Positioning Of The Bony Chin Segment In Osseous Genioplasty.Case-series: A Group Of 8 Patients (5 Females And 3 Males), Suffering From Chin Deformities, Were Evaluated For The Chin Deformity Using The Cephalometric Analysis. The Patient Cone Beam Computed Tomography Was Used To Fabricate The Custom Made Miniplate For The Genioplasty With A Cutting Guide For The Osteotomy And The Predetermined Plate Screw Holes. The Procedure Was Done Under General Anesthesia. The Postoperative Cone Beam Computed Tomography Was Taken 1 Month After The Surgery. Reference Point And Planes Were Taken And Measured On The Post- Simulation And The Post-operative CT.

Results: All The Patients Healed Uneventfully With No Wound Dehiscence. The Postoperative Edema Was Shown With Different Degrees And Subsided Within 1-2 Weeks. During The Firstweek Of Follow Up, All Patients Had Numbness In The Lower Lip That Decreased In The Second And Third Week.?t? Test Was Used To Compare Between The Post Simulated And The Actual Post-operative Linear And Angular Measures. The Mean And Standard Deviation Difference Between The Post-simulation And The Actual Post-operative Was Statistically Non-significant (P<0.05).Conclusion: The Computer-guided Genioplasty Procedure Showed High Accuracy In Its Results. The Positioning Of The Genial Segment Was Facilitated, And The Operative Time Was Reduced. Patients Showed Less Postoperative Hypoesthesia Due To The Planned Cut Away From The Vital Structures. Overall Superimposition Of Both Models Showed Range Of Accuracy Percentage Between 72% And 92% With Mean Value Of 82.75% Which Is Considered Acceptable In The Range.Introduction

Aim Of Study: To Evaluate The Effect Of Simvastatin Gel In Surgical Management Of Intrabony Defects In Periodontitis.Patients And Methods: Twenty Patients With A Total Number Of 40 Intrabony Defects As Determined Clinically And Radiographically Were Selected For The Study. The Selected Sites Were Treated With Access Fla Surgery And Were Divided Into Two Groups: Group I (control Group) Was Treated With Open Fla Depridement Only (OFD) And Group II (study Group) Treated With OFD + 1.2% SMV Gel. The Following Clinical And Radiographic Parameters Were Recorded At Baseline, 3 Months And 6 Months Post Operatively Probing Pocket Depth(PPD); Clinical Attachment Level (CAL) ; Modifie Sulcular Bleeding Index (mSBI); Plaque Index (PI); Alveolar Bone Loss (ABL); Bone Density (BD).

Results: Both Groups Showed Improvement In Clinical And Radiographic Parameters Although They Are Statistically Insignificant.Upon Comparing The Results Of Both Treatment Modalities, No Statistically Significantdifference Was Detected Regarding MSBI, PI, PD, CAL, ABL And BD Scores Along The Whole Studied Period With P-value >0.05. One Of Those Tools Is PES That Has Been Commonly Used In Assessment Of The Esthetic Results Of Dental Implants Restorations.

Aim: This Study Aims To Evaluate The Profil Of Soft Tissue Around Restoration Of Single Implant In The Aesthetic Zone Using PES Following Uncovering Of The Implants By ?M? Fla And Conventional Uncovering Techniques.Methods: 24 Patients Were Randomly Divided Into 2 Groups, A Group For Each Uncovering Technique. PES Was Evaluated Around The Implant Restoration At The Time Of The Delivery Of The Prosthesis And After 3 Months Of Loading.

Results: Values Recorded After 3 Months Of Follow Up Were Significantl Higher Than Values Recorded At Delivery Day In M-fla And Conventional Techniques. No Significan Difference Was Found Between Values Recorded In The Two Groups After 3 Months.Conclusion: The Esthetic Outcomes Following Implementation Of The Both Techniques Are Comparable.

ABSTRACT
Background: Implants In Dentistry Has Shown A Dramatic Increase In Recent Years As They Introduce A Successful Treatment Modality For Restoring Edentulism. As They Have Revealed High Survival Rates. Causes For Tooth Loss May Contain But Are Not Restricted To; Fractures, Periodontal Disease, Endodontic And Periapical Lesions. Teeth That May Have A Questionable Prognosis Such As Teeth Demanding Root Amputations, Hemi Sections Or Progressive Periodontal Techniques Should Be Considered Before Extraction, And The Patient Should Choose His Option, Whether To Preserve The Tooth Or Extract It. Aim; Evaluation Of The Volumetric Changes Of Oral Soft Tissue And Amount Of Crestal Bone Loss In Immediate Implant Placement In Mandibular Molars By Using Sealing Socket Abutment To Seal Close The Socket Versus Using Collagen Sponge. Methods: Patients Were Randomly Divided Into 2 Groups; The (Group A) (study Group) Received Sealing Socket Abutment While (Group B) (control Group) Received Collagen Sponge. Clinical Assessment; Patients Were Called For Follow-up 1-week Post-operative And Weekly For The Firstmonth, Then Monthly For Six Months, And Were Assessed For Healing And Implant Threads Exposures. Radiographic Assessment; Immediate Post-operative CBCT Was Ordered For All Patient To Act As Base Line For Radiographic Analysis. After 6 Months All Patients Were Recalled To Obtain CBCT To Assess Amount Of Bone Resorption Around Implant.

Results: The Mean Width Reduction Of Group A Is 0.68? 0.25 Compared To 1.59?0.51 In Group B. This Was Statistically Significantp<0.001; Being Higher In Group B. The Mean Bone Level Was 12.3?1.0 Mm For Group A And Was 12.4?0.8 In Group B. This Was Statistically Not Significantp=0.713. Conclusion: The Use Of Socket Sealing Abutment Showed Minimal Volumetric Width Reduction After Mandibular Molar Extraction With Ideal Implant Positioning. The Use Of Socket Sealing Abutment Showed Minimal Marginal Bone Loss With Immediate Implant. The Use Of Bone Graft In The Bony Sockets In Immediate Implant Placement As Space Fillingmaterial Showed Satisfactory Crestal Bone Level Stabilization. The Use Of Socket Sealing Abutment Showed Satisfactory Preservation Of Bone Graft Material And Enhanced Implant Success.

Aim: Clinical And Radiographic Studies Were Used To Examine The Amount Of Horizontal Bone Gain 4 Months Following Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Using IPRF Nano-micro Sticky Bone With Perforated Collagen Membrane Against Occlusive Barrier Membrane.Patients And Methods: The Study Represents An Observational Analytic Randomized Case-controlled Study Of Twenty Patients Having Horizontal Alveolar Ridge Defect, Where Augementation Was Done For Them By Using IPRF Nano-micro Sticky Bone. Patients Were Divided Randomly Into Two Groups. Randomization Was Performed By Using Coin Flipmethod. Each Group Included Ten Patients, (Group 1) Had Horizontal Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Using IPRF Nano- Micro Sticky Bone With Perforated Collagen Membrane, While (Group 2) Had A Horizontal Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Using IPRF Nano-micro Sticky Bone With Occlusive Collagen Membrane. A Radiographic Assessment Using CBCT, As Well As A Clinical Assessment, Was Done For Both Groups After A Follow Up Period Of 4 Months. The Study Was Approved By The Ethics And Research Committee Of The Faculty Of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.

Results: A Slight Bone Reduction In The Two Studied Groups Was Observed After The 4 Months Follow Up, In Comparison To Post-operative Readings. Those Differences Were Found To Be Statistically Highly Significant The Mean Percent Of Bone Reduction For Perforated Membrane Was Lower Than That For Non-perforated Membrane Group During Follow Up. That Difference Was Also Found To Be Statistically Significant.Conclusion: Both Perforated Collagen Membrane And Occlusive Barrier Membrane Showed Decease In The Bone Width And Reduction In Bone Gain After 4 Months Of Follow Up. When Comparing Both Membranes The Percentage Of Post-operative Bone Reduction In Perforated Collagen Membrane Is Lower Than That Of Occlusive Barrier Membrane.
