Introduction: The Aim Of This Systematic Review Was To Compare The Effectiveness Of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) And Conventional Segmented Arches During Incisor Intrusion In Adult Patients With A Deep Bite. Methods: Four Electronic Databases Were Queried Using The Following Keywords: Deep Bite, Intrusion, Incisor, And Mini-implant. In Addition, Articles Were Manually Searched For Using The Reference Lists Of Relevant Articles, Gray Literature, And Peer-reviewed Orthodontic Journals. Data From The Retrieved Articles Were Selected And Evaluated By Two Independent Reviewers Using A New Systematic Review Software Program, DistillerSR. A Meta-analysis Of Raw Mean Differences In Treatment Duration Was Performed.

Conclusions: The Results Of This Meta-analysis Showed That No Significant Difference Was Found Regarding Treatment Duration Between Two Groups. However, The Results Should Be Interpreted With Caution, Since They Are Based On Studies Ranging From Low To High Quality.

Introduction: The Aim Of The Study Was To Compare Between Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramic (IPS E Max CAD), Zirconia And Zirconia Reinforced Lithium Silicate Glass Ceramic(Vita Suprinity) As Regard Weight Loss Due To A Corrosive Medium As Well As The Effect Of Corrosion On Their Flexural Strength. Methods: 30 Samples Divided Into 3 Groups According To Ceramic Materials (10 Samples For Groupe 1 (e Max ),group 2 (VS) And Group 3 (bruxzirTM Zirconia).Then Further Each Group Divided Into Subgroup According To Test Method Which Are Corrosion Test And Biaxial Flexural Strength (BFS). 5 Samples For Biaxial Flexural Strength(controlled) And 5 Samples For The Biaxial Flexural Strength Test After Corrosion Test.using The Weight Loss To Determine The Corrosion Test And Using Universal Testing Machine . Statistical Analysis Was Performed With IBM? SPSS? Statistics Version 21 For Windows. Result: It Was Found That There Was No Statistically Significant Difference Between (E-Max), (Vita Suprinity)and (Zirconia) Where (p=0.446) In BFS Test. And Also There Was A Statistically Significant Difference Between (E-Max), (Vita Suprinity) And (Zirconia) Where (p=0.001) In Corrosion Test . Conclusion: Corrosion Did Not Affected The Flexural Strength Of All Tested Ceramics. Bruxzir Zirconia Recorded Less Weight Loss After Being Subjected To Corrosion Test Than IPS E-max CAD And Vita Suprinity .

MARGINAL LEAKAGE AND INTERNAL ADAPTATION OF LAMINATE VENEER USING TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF CERAMICS

ABSTRACT
The Aim Of This Study Is To Evaluate The Marginal Leakage And Internal Adaptation Of Porcelain Laminate Veneer Using Two Different Types Of Ceramics (pressable And Machinable CAD/CAM).

Materials and Methods: 40 Ceramic Laminate Veneers Were Fabricated By Two Different Fabrication Technique Using A Conventional Pressable Technique (group P N = 20) And A CAD/CAM Fabrication Technique (group M N = 20). All Samples Were Prepared(overlap Preparation), Then Transferred Into Epoxy Samples Then Veneers Were Fabricated, And All Samples Were Cemented Under The Same Condition. All Specimens Were Stored Under Water (37?C) For 60 Days, Then Received Thermocycling Followed By Cyclic Loading, Then Samples Immersed In Methylene Blue Dye For 24 H. Half Of The Specimens In Each Group Were Sectioned In Vertical Direction (n = 20), And The Rest Were Horizontally Sectioned (n = 20). Internal Adaptation, And Marginal Gaps At The Incisal And Cervical Regions Were Measured.

Results: Pressable Ceramic Veneers Demonstrated Significantly Higher Vertical And Horizontal Marginal Gaps At The Cervical And Incisal Margins And Lower Cement Film Thickness (F = 50.921, P < 0.001) Compared To Machinable Ceramic Veneers. The Machinable Ceramic Veneers Were Associated With Significantly Lower Marginal Leakageleakage Values.

Conclusions: Machainable Ceramic Laminate Veneers Produced Higher Marginal Adaptation, And Thinner Cement Film Thickness, And Improved Resistance To Microleakage Compared To Pressable Ceramic Veneers. Clinical Significance: Dentist And Laboratory Technicians Have To Choose The Manufacturing Process With Careful Consideration, As It Influences Internal And Marginal Fit Of Ceramic Veneers And The Terminal Success Of The Restoration.

MAXILLARY SINUS ELEVATION USING GELFOAM (ABSORBABLE GELATIN) VERSUS XENOGRAFT (TUTOGEN) WITH SIMULTANEOUS IMPLANT PLACEMENT (RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL)

ABSTRACT
Background: Different Grafting Techniques And Materials Have Been Proposed For Elevation And Augmentation Of Maxillary Sinus Floor To Solve The Problem Of Inadequate Alveolar Bone Quantity Which Hinders The Placement Of Root Form End Osseous Dental Implants In Atrophic Posterior Maxilla.

Purpose: The Aim Of The Present Study To Compare Gelfoam(absorbable Gelatin Sponge) As A Space Filling Material Versus Xenograft (Tutogen) In Augmentation And Elevation Of Maxillary Sinus Floor With Simultaneous Implant Placement. Material And Methods : Eighteen Cases Of Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation Were Randomly Divided Into 2 Groups. The First Group Received Xenograft As Grafting Material Through Lateral Window Approach With Simultaneous Implant Placement While The Second Group Received Gelfoam As A Space Maintainer Through Lateral Window Approach With Simultaneous Implant Placement And Titanium Mesh As Non Resorbable Membrane Used For Closure Of The Lateral Window In Both Groups. CBCT Were Obtained Immediately Postoperative And 6 Months After Operation To Measure Bone Height Gained And Gray Scale Value. Osstell Readings Were Taken At The Time Of Implant Placement And Implant Exposure (6 Months) To Measure Implant Stability Results : A Total Of 19 Implants Were Placed In 18 Sinuses Floor Elevated Sites And Only 2 Cases Suffered From Membrane Perforation During Membrane Elevation In Gelfoam Group. The Mean Bone Height Gains In The Xenograft 10.2mm (�2.5) While That Of The Gelfoam 5.4mm (�2.0). Mean Bone Density In The Xenograft Was 387.6(�70.7) While That Of The Gelfoam Was 285.7(�42.1). Mean Implant Stability For The Xenograft Was 77.3ISQ (�4.9) While Gelfoam Was 74.2ISQ (�3.0). Conclusions : Within The Limitation Of This Study, Sinus Lift Procedures With Simultaneous Implant Placement Using Xenograft Showed Superior Results Regarding The Amount Of Bone Height Gain And Bone Density Compared To Gelfoam. However, Both Groups Showed Comparable Results Regarding Clinical Implant Stability.

Background: Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma (MEC) Is A Malignant Glandular Epithelial Neoplasm Having An Unpredictable Behavior And A Tendency To Recur. Numerous Parameters Have Been Assessed To Predict The Outcome Of This Lesion, But Have Been Deemed Inadequate, With The Exception Of Tumor Stage And Grade. In The Present Study We Attempt To Compare The Diagnostic Accuracy Of Two Indicators (PHH3 And AgNOR) In Different Grades Of Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma And Correlate The Sensitivity Of Their Proliferative Index With The Histopathologic Grades Of MEC.

Materials and Methods: A 22 Paraffin Blocks Of MEC From Both Major And Minor Salivary Glands Of Various Grades Were Retrieved From The Archives Of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Department, Faculty Of Dentistry And National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. Paraffin Blocks Were Cut Into 4 Micron Thick Sections And Placed On Positively Charged (Opti-Plus, Biogenex Laboratory, USA) For PHH3 Immunostaining Procedures. Histological Grading Was Done And Slides Were Stained For AgNOR Counts.Area Percent Of Immunohistochemical Expression Of PHH3 Was Measured By Software Leica Qwin 500.

Results: All Cases Of Low Grade MEC Revealed Large Regular Focally Dispersed AgNOR Dots All Over The Squamoid Cells There?s Statistically Significant Direct Relation Between PHH3 MARKER And AgNORs MARKER Conclusion: AgNORs As A Marker For Cell Proliferation Seems To Be More Sensitive In Differentiation Between Low And High Grades Of MEC Than PHH3 Marker.

TRANSLUCENCY OF CAD/CAM VENEERS USING DIFFERENT INTERNAL RELIEF SPACES AND LUTING CEMENT SHADES

ABSTRACT
Statement Of Problem : Little Information Is Available On The Translucency Of Zirconia Reinforced Glass Ceramic Restorations With A Cad Cam Veneers In Various Internal Relief Space And Different Cement Shades Combinations. Purpose The Aim Of The Study Is To Evaluate Translucency Of Zirconia Reinforced Glass Ceramic CAD/CAM Veneers With Different Internal Relief Spaces And Different Cement Shades. Material And Methods : Twenty Samples Were Constructed And Classified According To The Type Of Materials Into One Main Group , VITA SUPRINITY (10 Samples). The Group Were Subdivided Into Two Subgroups (5 Samples Each) According To The Internal Relief Space (100 Microns And 30 Microns). Each Subgroup Were Further Subdivided Into Six Classes According To The Type Of Trial Cements Used : The Control Class ( Glycerine ), And Five Trial Paste Classes According To Their Shade (Translucent Shade, White Opaque Shade, A1/Light Yellow Shade, A3 Opaque/Yellow Opaque Shade And B0.5/ White Shade (10 Samples Each) According To Shade Of The Trial Cement Used. Comparisons Between Tooth Regions Were Made By Using 1-way ANOVA. When The ANOVA Was Significant, The Tukey Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) Test Was Used To Determine Which Comparisons Were Significantly Different.

Results: The Consistency Of The Translucency Among The Tested Specimens Was Confirmed Using A 1-way ANOVA And The Tukey HSD Post Hoc Test (P<.05). The Luminous Transmittance Exhibited A Statistically Significant Dependence On Zirconia Reinforced Glass Ceramic Restorations With A Cad Cam Veneers In Various Internal Relief Space And Different Cement Shades Combinations. (P<.05). Conclusions : The Underlying Color Of The Tested Trial Insertion Pastes Caused Color Change (?E >3.7) For Different Regions For Suprinity Laminate Veneers With 30 ?m Internal Relief Space.

EVALUATION OF MARGINAL ADAPTATION AND FRACTURE RESISTANCE OF BIO HPP AND ZIRCONIA

ABSTRACT

Objectives: The Purpose Of This In-vitro Study Is To Evaluate The Marginal Adaptation And Fracture Resistance Of The High-Performance Polymer (Bio HPP) Three-unit Fixed Dental Prostheses (FDPs) Framework And Compare It With That Of Yttrium-oxide Partially Stabilized Zirconia (Y-TZP). Methods: Two Groups Of Standardized Three-unit FDPs Framework With Flat Occlusal Surface (n=10/group) Were Fabricated. The First Group (control) Was Made Of Zirconia Blank. The Second Group Was Made Of Bio HPP Blank Using (CAD/CAM) Milling Machine. The Wall Thickness Of The Framework Was 0.7 Mm And The Connectors Had An Almost Rectangular Cross-section Of 7.36 Mm2 Surface Area, An Occluso-gingival Height Of 3.2 Mm, And A Bucco-lingual Width Of 2.3 Mm. To Evaluate The Marginal Adaptation, Each Specimen Was Photographed Before And After Cementation Using USB Digital Microscope With A Built-in Camera Connected With An IBM Compatible Personal Computer Using A Fixed Magnification Of 50 X, A Digital Image Analysis System Was Used To Measure And Evaluate The Vertical Gap Length. To Evaluate The Fracture Resistance, All Samples Were Individually Mounted On The Universal Materials Testing Machine, Fracture Test Was Done By Compressive Static Load Applied Occlousally At The Center Of The Pontic With Upper Movable Compartment Of A Universal Testing Machine Traveling At Cross-head Speed Of 1mm/min. The Load Required To Fracture Was Recorded In Newton.

Results: It Was Found That Zirconia Group Recorded Statistically Non-significant Higher Marginal Gap Mean Value (22.71�3.1�m) Than Bio HPP Group (20.27�3.03�m) As Indicated By Three-way ANOVA Followed By Pair-wise Tukey?s Post-hoc Tests (P=0.0825>0.05) It Was Noted That Bio HPP Group Recorded Statistically Significant (p<0.05) Higher Fracture Resistance Mean Value (1626.31�191.9 N) Than Zirconia Group (1243.51�175.8 N) As Indicated By Student T-test (t= 3.1, P= 0.007<0.05)

Conclusions: Bio HPP FDPs Framework Showed Non-significant Better Marginal Adaptation Than Zirconia. Bio HPP Framework Showed Significant Higher Fracture Resistance Than Y-TZP Zirconia. It Can Be Potentially Used As Crown And Bridge Material Even In Posterior Area.

ABSTRACT
The Aim Of This Study Was To Assess The Efficacy Of Autologous Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Compared With Dextrose Prolotherapy (DP) In Patients With TMJ Hypermobility. Subjects And Methods: Forty Two Patients With Symptomatic TMJ Hypermobility Were Included In This Study. They Were 7 Male And 35 Females. Their Ages Ranged From 18-48 Years, With An Average Of 30.69 � 8.67 Years. After Accepting To Be Enrolled In The Present Study, The Participants Were Randomly Assigned Into One Of Two Equal Groups Using A Computer-generated Randomization Schedule. In PRP Group, Each TMJ Received 2 Sessions Of Intra-articular And Pericapsular Injections With 1.5 Ml Of PRP With 2 Weeks Apart. While In Dextrose Group, Each TMJ Received 4 Sessions Of Intra-articular And Pericapsular Injections With A Dextrose Solution Of 2ml Of 10% Dextrose And 1ml Of 2% Mepivacaine With Six Weeks Apart Both The Assessor And The Statistician Regarding The Group Allocation.

Results: The Outcome Measures Were Assessed And Documented At Baseline And At 2, 6, 12, 18 And 30 Weeks After Treatment. They Include Assessment Of The Patient?s Subjective Pain On Function According To The Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Frequency Of Luxations, MMO And Clicking Sound. By The End Both Groups Showed Statistically Significant Decrease In All The Evaluated Parameters At 2 Weeks After Treatment That Maintained Thereafter. Comparing The Two Groups Revealed Significant Reduction Of TMJ Pain And MMO In PRP Group Than Dextrose Group.

Objectives: The Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Clinical And Radiographic Outcomes Of Patient Specific CAD/CAM Condylar Plate After Unilateral Subcondylar Fracture Reduction And Fixation.

Materials and Methods: This Study Was Conducted On Six Cases Of (four With Unilateral Subcondylar Fractures And Two With Bilateral Subcondylar Fractures) Indicated For Open Reduction And Internal Fixation, The Methods Were Developed With 3D Slicer 4.8 Software And The Capabilities Of 3D Slicer Software Were Extended By TCL Scripting Plugins And Combined With ITK-SNAP Software, Modeling Of The Patient Specific Condylar Plate Was Performed With Geomagic FreeForm Plus Software For 3D Organic Modeling On The Reduced Fracture Fragments. Each Titanium Plate Was Manufactured Via Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), For Measuring Accuracy Of Postoperative 3D Virtual Reduction. Result: The Average Mean Distance Error Between Superimposed Surfaces Calculated From All Six Cases Was 0.35 Mm (SD = 0.083 Mm) Conclusion: The Patient Specific Condylar Plate Provided Very Accurate 3D Reduction Of Both Segments Especially In The Medio-lateral Direction As Proved By Our Results Which Is Considered The Most Important Advantage Gained Throughout Our Research Study.

Background: Orthodontic Treatment With Fixed Appliances Increases Biofilm Accumulation On The Irregular Surfaces Of The Brackets Which May Lead To Enamel Demineralization. Data Examining The Adhesion Of Different Cariogenic Bacteria To Orthodontic Brackets With Different Methods Of Ligation Are Limited. Objective: To Quantitatively Analyse The Adhesion Of Streptococcus Mutans (S. Mutans) And Lactobacillus Casei (L. Casei) To Orthodontic Brackets With Different Ligation Methods.

Materials and Methods: Premolar Metal Brackets Were Incubated With 1?2?108 CFU/ml Of S. Mutans And L. Casei Alone And In Combination At 37�C For 24 H. Adhesion To Elastomeric Ligatures, Steel Wire Ligatures, And Self-ligating Brackets Was Quantified.

Results: S. Mutans Showed The Highest Adhesion To Elastomeric Ligatures, While L. Casei Showed The Highest Adhesion To The Self-ligating Brackets With Lowest Adhesion Of Both Strains To Brackets With Steel Wire Ligatures. Combination Of S. Mutans And L. Casei Resulted In A Much Lower Adhesion Of S. Mutans To All Types Of Ligation Compared To L. Casei.

Conclusions: The Ligation Method And Bacterial Combinations Played An Important Role In Bacterial Adhesion To Different Methods Of Ligation. These Data Should Guide The Choice Of Steel Wire Ligatures In Orthodontic Practice Particularly For Patients With Bad Oral Hygiene And High Caries Index.
