RETENTION OF IMPLANT SUPPORTED ALL CERAMIC CROWNS CEMENTED WITH DIFFERENT LUTING AGENTS: A COMPARATIVE IN VITRO STUDY

ABSTRACT
Objective: The Aim Of This Study Is To Compare Between Retention Of Resin Cement And Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement Used For Cementation Of IPS E.max Crowns Over Titanium And Zirconia Implant Abutments

Materials and Methods: Twenty Implant Analogs Were Embedded In 20 Blocks Of Epoxy Resin. 10 Implant Analogs Received A Titanium Abutment, And 10 Implant Analogs Received A Zirconia Abutment. 20 E.max Press Crowns Were Constructed, 5 Crowns Cemented With Resin Cement, And 5 Cemented With Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement For Each Type Of Abutment. Each Sample Was Subjected To A Pull-out Test Using Bluehill Lite; Instron Instruments Universal Testing Machine With A Loadcell Of 5 KN.. Loads Required To Remove The Crowns Were Recorded, And Mean Values For Each Group Determined. Data Were Statistically Analyzed Using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 20 For Windows. T-test And Two-way ANOVA Samples. Result: The Mean Values ?SD Of Loads At Failure (n -5) For Each Group Were As Follows In Newton (N): Resin-Titanium Group(A) 305.4?41.4, Resin Modified Glass Ionomer-Titanium Group(B) 164.3?21.7, Resin-Zirconia Group(C) 275.1?15.5, Resin Modified Glass Ionomer -Zirconia Group(D) 136.6?19.5 Groups A&C Were Statistically Significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: - There Was No Difference Between Titanium And Zirconia Abutments In Retention. - The Resin Cement Showed Better Retention Than Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement With Both Titanium And Zirconia Abutments. The Best Combination Was Using Resin Cement With Titanium Abutment. While, The Worst Combination Was Using Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement With Zirconia Abutment.

TRANSLUCENCY OF MONOLITHIC VERSUS LAYERED ZIRCONIA IN THREE DIFFERENT SHADES

ABSTRACT


Purpose: This Study Aimed To Compare The Translucency Of Monolithic Versus Layered Zirconia In Three Different Shades, A1, A2, And A3.

Materials & Methods: 30 Disc Specimens Of 10 Mm Diameter And 2 Mm Thickness Were Divided In 2 Main Groups. Group I (Monolithic), And Group II (Layered), With A Count Of 15 Specimens Foeach Group. Group I Specimens Were Fabricated Entirely From CAD/CAM Ceramill?Zolid Zirconia, While Group II Had Cores Of 1mm Thickness Ceramill?Zolid Zirconia Veneered With 1mm Thickness VITA VM?9 Porcelain. Each Group Was Divided Into 3 Subgroups According To The Different Shades Used (A1, A2, And A3). All Specimens Were Tested Using UV Spectrophotometer, (Cary 5000, Agilent Technologies, USA). Translucency Parameter (TP) And Contrast Ratio (CR) Of All Specimens Were Calculated. Data Were Statistically Analyzed With F-test (ANOVA) And Student T-test.

Results: The Statistical Analysis Showed Significant Results In Comparing The Different Techniques Of Fabrications. On Comparing The Mean Values Of All Study Subgroups, Subgroup II-A1 Showed The Highest TP (TP = 5.91) And The Lowest CR (CR = 0.85), Followed By Subgp. II-A2 (TP = 5.697 / CR = 0.853), Subgp.II-A3 (TP = 5.45 / CR = 0.87), Subgp.I-A1 (TP = 4.24 / CR = 0.893), Subgp. I-A2 (TP = 4.128 / CR = 0.903), And I-A3 As The Lowest TP (TP = 4.014) And The Highest CR (CR = 0.927). On The Contrary, Insignificant Results Were Observed When Comparing Different Shades Within The Same Main Group (p ? 0.05). Conclusion: The Fabrication Techniques Affected Specimen Translucency Significantly, Where Group II Showed A Significant Higher TP Than Group I. On The Other Hand, Different Color Shades Used In The Present Study Showed Insignificant Effect On The Specimens TP Values In The Same Group.

ABSTRACT
Objective: The Present Study Conducted To Compare The Regenerative Potential Of Guided Bone Regeneration (control Group) To Platelet Rich Fibrin (test Group), In Immediate Implant Placement In Mandibular Molars.

Materials and Methods: 20 Patients And 20 Mandibular Molars Have Been Extracted And Replaced By Immediate Implant. Deproteinized Bovine Bone (Xenograft) Was Used As A Filling Material In Control Group While Platele-rich Fibrin Was Used As The Test Group. Cone Beam CT Was Obtained Preopetively, Immediately Post-operatively For Evaluation Of Implant Placement And 6 Months Postoperatively. Osstell Reading Were Taken At The Time Of Implant Placement And Implant Exposure (6 Months)

Results: Mean Bone Loss In The Xenograft Group Was 1.92? 1.0 While That Of The Platlet Rich Fibrin Group Was 1.3?0.78 And This Was Non-statistically Significant P=0.137. The Mean ISQ Value Of Guided Bone Regeneration Group Is 62.0?7.23, And 67.4?7.15 Platelet-rich Fibrin Group. This Was Statistically Nonsignificant P=0.110 Conclusion: Within The Limitation Of This Study, Immediate Implant Placement In Mandibular Molars With Guided Bone Regeneration Or Platelet Rich Fibrin Will Inevitably Result In Marginal Bone Loss. However, Implant Stability Has Shown Statistical Improvement In Both Groups.

BACKGROUND: Several Patients Notice The Value Of Completely Edentulous Mandibular Ridge Therapy Through Complete Overdenture Implants To Be On The Far Side Their Money Scope, Mandibular Overdentures Reatined By One Implant Are Reported To Be More Leisurely And Function Better Than Conventional Complete Dentures. The Goal Of The Current Study Were To Analyze The Clinical Outcomes In Comparison Between Two Types Of Attachments, The Locator Attachment Versus The Equator Attachment Used With Immediately Loaded Single Implant Retained Mandibular Overdenture Opposing Conventional Complete Denture. METHODS: Ten Completely Edentulous Patients Were Managed With A Single Implant Inserted Into The Midline Of The Mandible, Followed By Rehabilitation With Complete Dentures And Divided Into Two Equal Groups: Group I Patients Receive Locator Attachment, While Group II Receive Equator Attachment. Immediately After Implant Placement The Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ) Reading Of A Minimum Of 60 Was Measured Before Considering Connection Of The Attachment. Then The Denture Was Relieved In The Midline Providing Adequate Space For Female Housing Of The Attachment And Then The Denture Was Picked Up Directly In The Mouth. The Clinical Outcome Evaluated Two Weeks, Three Months And Six Months After Implant Insertion. RESULTS: The Peri-implant Soft Tissues Assessment Results Showed No Statistically Significant Difference Within Each Group And Between Two Groups At Different Evaluation Period, But The Result Of The Probe Depth In The Present Study Showed Statistically Significant Increase Within The Pair Groups, But There Is No Significant Variation Between The Pair Groups. CONCLUSION: Immediately Loaded Single Midline Implant Retained Mandibular Overdenture Treatment With Locator Attachment Could Be An Alternative And Cost Effective Treatment Option And Relatively Simply Treatment.

In The Present In-vitro Study, A Total Of 20 Denture Bases Were Fabricated On A Single Model Using Two Different Impression Techniques (ten With Each Technique). In The First Group, Impressions Were Recorded Using A Single Step Impression Technique Employing Preliminary Impressions Using Alginate With Stock Metal Trays Followed By Special Tray Fabrication And Secondary Impression Making Using Condensation Silicone Impression Material. In The Second Group, A Single Step Impression Technique Was Carried Out Using Thermoplastic Impression Trays Carrying Condensation Silicone Impression Material. The Final Denture Bases Were Then Compared In Terms Of Adaptation On The Model Cast Using A Stereo Microscope. The First Group Of Dentures Showed Better Adaptation Than The Second Group.

Objective: Purpose Of This Study Was To Evaluate The Effect Of Airabrasion And Combined Air Abrasion & Ultraviolet Treatment On The Surface Topograghy And Wettability Of Zirconia Ceramic Materials.

Materials and Methods: Twenty One Zirconia Discs Were Fabricated From Copran Ceramic Zirconia, Then Were Grouped Into 3 Groups, Seven Specimens Each: (a) Air Abrasion (150um), (b) Air Abrasion & Ultra Violet Radiation, (c) Untreated Zirconia Discs. Surface Topography Was The Assessed By Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) And Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Wetting Ability Was Assessed By Contact Angle Measurement Test.

Results: Nano Topographic Surface Roughness Was Created In The Treated Groups With Significant Difference With The Untreated Group. Both Surface Treatments Enhanced The Wettability Of The Zirconia Discs

Conclusions: It Was Concluded That Both Air Abrasion And Combined Air Abrasion& Ultraviolet Treatments, Enhanced The Surface Topography Of Copran Zirconia Material By Producing Pronounced Nanoroughness .

Objective: To Evaluate The Clinical And Radiographic Outcomes Of This Customized CAD/CAM Plate For Mandibular Body Fracture Reduction And Fixation.

Materials and Methods: Ten Patients With At Least A Unilateral Body Fracture Indicated For Open Reduction Internal Fixation .Preoperative Assessment And Preparation Was Done Through A Personal Data, Medical And Surgical History And Family History . After Detailed Clinical And Radiographic Evaluation Every Patient Underwent Routine Preoperative Laboratory Tests. Postoperatively Each Patient Was Followed Up At (two Days, Ten Days, Three Weeks, One And Half Month And Three Months From Day Of Surgery) For The Clinical Signs Relating To Stability Of The Osteosynthesis, Wound Healing, Infection, Occlusion.

Results: Clinical Results Showed That None Of The Cases Showed Clinical Manifestation Of Infection Form The Mandibular Body Segment Or From The Plate Postoperatively, Stable Fractured Segments Postoperatively, And The Corrected Occlusion Was Maintained In All Cases. Radiographic Results Showed Proper Reduction Of The Fractured Segment With Narrowing Of The Inter Fragmentary Gap. Conclusion: Custom Made Plates Fit On Every Person Specific Anatomy Giving Us Better Reduction With Excellent Results And Reduce The Time Of Bending And Fixing The Plate During Operation, Allow Patient To Return To Normal Function Rapidly Immediately After The Surgery (considering Good Nutrition And Verbal Communication), Allow The Prompt Recovery Of The Occlusion. Satisfy The Stress Condition And Produce High Stability, And The Use Of Computer Guided Technology Provided A Significant Improvement In The Field Of Osteosynthesis.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Evaluation Of The Esthetics Satisfaction Of The Patient And Accuracy By Using Computer Assisted Custom Made Plates In Advancement Genioplasty. Patients And Methods: A Total Of Ten Patients Were Selected From The Out-patient Clinic At The Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery Department And Orthodontic Departments, Faculty Of Oral And Dental Medicine At Cairo University. Patients Were Indicated For Advancement Genioplasty Using Custom Made Plate And Its Bony Based Surgical Guide. The Surgery Was Performed On Adult Patient Age Range From 20 Till 30 Years Old Including 6 Females And 4 Males. Postoperatively Each Patient Was Followed Up 72 Hours, Ten Days, Three Weeks, One Half Month And Three Months Form Day Of Surgery And Then Monthly For 6 Months.

Results: All Patients With Advancement Genioplasty Recovered Totally From A Neurosensory Deficit. The Level Of Satisfaction Was Significantly High For All The Patients. The Results Were Judged To Be Excellent In 73.2% And Good In 26.8% Of The Cases. All Patients Were Satisfied With Their Appearance, Improved Motor Function, And Enhanced Quality Of Life. Conclusion: Computer Assisted Custom Made Plates With Its Bone Based Surgical Guide Designed On Mimics Software Aid In Producing Accurate Measurements Of Osteotomy Position And The Amount Of Chin Advancement. The Surgical Bony Guide And Custom Made Plate Help In Eliminating The Human Error And Save Time By Accurately Determining The Best Osteotomy Position According To The Previous Planed Measurements, As Well It Improves Patients Esthetics Satisfaction

ABSTRACT


Aim: The Aim Of This Study Was To Evaluate And Compare The Effect Of Three Different Remineralizing Agents (GC Toothmousse, SHY-NM & Biorepair) On Shear Bond Strength Of Vitremer Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement To Dentine And To Determine The Mode Of Failure. Materials And Method: In This Study, 20 Sound Freshly Extracted Premolars Were Used. They Were Divided Into Four Groups, Five Each, Group I (control Group), Five Teeth (Mesial And Distal Surfaces) Were Restored With Resin Modified Glass Ionomer (Vitremer) Without Using Any Remineralizing Agents. In Group II: Teeth Were Treated With GC Tooth Mousse Then Restored With Vitremer. Group III: Teeth (ten Surfaces) Were Treated With SHY-NM Then Restored With Vitremer. Group IV: Teeth Were Treated BioRepair Plus Then Restored With Vitremer. Instron Universal Testing Machine Was Used To Assess The Shear Bond Strength. Light Microscopy (x20 Magnification) Was Used To Determine The Modes Of Failure.

Results: The Highest Shear Bond Strength Was In Group III After The Application Of Novamine Containing Paste ?Shy-NM?. While The Lowest Shear Bond Strength Was Found In The Group I (Control Group). For Groups II And IV, The Application Of Both GC Tooth Mousse And Biorepaire Increased The Shear Bond Strength Of Glass Ionomer After Their Application With No Significant Differences Between Them. The Most Frequent Failure Mode Was Adhesive (at Interface). Adhesive Failure Was Found In 27 Samples While The Remaining 13 Samples Were Mixed. Conclusion: The Shear Bond Strength Of Vitremer Resin Modified Glass Ionomer To Dentine Was Improved When Dentine Was Pre-treated With 5 % Novamin Containing Toothpaste, CPP-ACP Containing Paste, Toothpaste Made Of Hydroxyapatite Nanocrystals.
